Bien voyager : to pay the fine

The amount of the fine

From the 1st of January 2015, a 51.50 € fine is applied if you are not able to show your ticket, if your ticket is no more valid or if your ticket is not valid. If you pay this fine within 24 hours after control, the amount is reduced to 34.50 €.

Nevertheless, the holders of a weekly, monthly or yearly personal ticket who have not validated it or who are not able to show it, can get leniency measures twice a year*.

  • For the holders of a weekly subscribtion ticket: the fine can be reduced to 10.00 € if the subscribtion is currently valid on the day of the infraction. For this purpose, the ticket has to be shown within 6 days after the infraction. From the 7th day, the penalty is confirmed.

  • For the holders of a monthly subscribtion ticket: the fine can be reduced to 6.00 € if the subscribtion is currently valid on the day of the infraction. For this purpose, the ticket has to be shown within 10 days after the infraction. From the 11th day, the penalty is confirmed.

  • For the holders of a yearly subscribtion ticket : the fine is cancelled if the subscribtion is currently valid on the day of the infraction.

If the fine is not paid in the month after the infraction, it is inscreased to 38.00 €. Beyond 4 months, your file is forwarded to the authorities, along with extra fees.

*Lenience is not possible if the fine is given by the « SNCF » (French railway company).
